Upon its introduction in 1989 it became clear that the Porsche 964 had made a huge leap forward over its predecessor. An (even more) stronger engine, an automatic spoiler and many modern novelties like ABS, air conditioning and power steering.
In addition, the car looked like a real 911: quite similar to its predecessor, or actualy perhaps a little more beautiful. To the present day, the Porsche 964 is one of the most successful 911’s in the history of the brand.
The 964 Targa is the last classic model with an original Targa-roof and the famous Targa-bar. The roof, can be folded like an accordion and stored in the boot in the front. The Targa concept offers a unique combination of open-top driving, with the protection of a coupe. It is therefore not surprising that Porsche has reintroduced the Targa in the current 991 series. Of over the 60,000 produced cars in the 964 series, less than 5,000 were ordered as Targa.
As can be seen in the pictures, the color Guards Red (also called India Red) looks good on this Porsche. Especially the combination with the black targaroof and the leather is very nice. The body is completely original and the car has no traces of usage. The paint is in an excellent condition and has lost nothing of its original shine. Originally delivered to the United States on April 4, 1990, the car has been fitted with European headlights and bumpers on arrival in the Netherlands. The car is equipped with original Design 90 wheels (with lock) and the typical flat mirrors.
The black leather interior is in excellent condition. Original and without damage. Nice smooth leather without shaded spots. The targaroof fits good. The inner side of the targaroof is renewed. The dashboard offers a classic Porsche look with the tachometer dominant in the middle. Sitting in the driver’s seat with the hands on the steering wheel, it is hard to imagine that it has been 27 years since this car has left the factory.
The smooth running ‘matching numbers’ 3.6 liter engine delivers 250 hp. The characteristic raw sound is a treat for your ears. The car is fitted with a tight G50 5-speed gearbox and the by Porsche fans highly valued rear-wheel-drive. The car is fitted with original stickers in all the usual places. Rims in a good condition fitted with four new Pirelli tires. The car is extensively serviced recently.
The car comes with the original stamped service book, the owner manual, the clean Car Fax report and a copy of the Millstone Classics 100 points check. The car is on a Dutch license.
In summary, a really nice example of this classic Porsche 911 model with its timeless looks and fantastic driving characteristics that is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner for many years to come.
